The MovingOn Story

The MovingOn program was created by Lockey Maisonneuve after her own experience with stage 3 breast cancer. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, Lockey was a personal trainer. She thought when she was done wtih treatment, she would be done with cancer. After quickly discovering first-hand that the real work of healing both mind and body starts when treatment ends, she got certified to work with cancer patients and created the MovingOn program.

Testimonials…

  • As a healthcare professional involved in the surgical treatment of patients with breast cancer, I can attest to the fact that the Moving On program is an asset to those patients who have had breast surgery and have gone through the reconstructive process. It is not only helpful for the patient's physical healing, but also to their emotional healing following a diagnosis of breast cancer and its subsequent treatment. The program empowers the patients in their fight against breast cancer and helps them adjust to their new lives as breast cancer survivors.

  • YOU are a wonderful support person. As your student, we can feel your love and caring. It is amazing how something so terrible can bring out the best in someone. Look how you found your calling!!! And you are an expert in what you do. I have to tell you, it is a challenge for me to go back out at night after being in the cold all day, but I am drawn to your class and enjoy coming. I must say my body feels amazing after I leave. I just have to incorporate it into my daily life at home. I have trouble being consistent with exercise, why I inquired about your personal training. I know I need to push myself to feel better.

  • Lockey is an amazing personal trainer! The enthusiasm she brings to each workout stirs the power within me and turns routine exercises into a personal achievement for the day. I am constantly challenged to improve. Lockey is extremely professional and knowledgeable about her work. Her positive attitude and humor lightens my day, even during the most challenging of workout routines. Working with Lockey has completely changed my perspective on fitness, taking exercising from being a chore and making it a nurturing, positive and integral aspect of my physical and emotional life.

  • The MovingOn exercise program would be a great psychological and physical benefit for all Breast Cancer patients. Not only could they improve their range of motion and minimize their postop pain but could decrease their stress and possibly improve their mental health.
