What is Moving On?
MovingOn exercise classes are for breast cancer survivors who have completed treatment.
This is a unique exercise environment in that the class is lead by a certified personal trainer, who is also certified to work with cancer patients and is a breast cancer survivor. Everyone in the room has experienced breast cancer.
This is an environment of support and empowerment. While exercising, dialogue is opened, stories are shared, empowerment organically blossoms.
Classes are now being held at the Berkeley Heights Y…… Coming soon evening classes at the Scotch Plains Y!!
About the Instructor
Lockey is an energetic, passionate personal trainer. Lockey began her fitness career as a personal trainer in 2004. In 2006 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Lockey underwent chemotherapy; bi-lateral mastectomies with saline implant reconstruction and radiation. During this time, Lockey saw a real need for cancer patients to exercise. Not just for the physical rehabilitation, but the mental aspect of regaining control over their bodies. She believes that if everyday, you gain a little more strength and a little more flexibility in your body, you gain a little more strength in your soul to continue on. In addition to personal training, Lockey created MovingOn, a rehabilitative exercise program for cancer patients. Lockey presents seminars on the importance of exercise during and after treatment. She has been featured in Overlook View magazine, written a blog for Sheknows.com and News12 profiled Lockey and her MovingOn program on Spotlight on NJ. She is also on the Community Advisory Board for the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Hospital.
